The Monthly Review - Pan By Hannah

This month’s review is on the movie Pan , which came out Friday, October 9, 2015. This movie is the story before the original Disney Peter Pan.  The movie is filled with action, intensity, excitement and for those watching, suspense.  The leading characters are Peter, Blackbeard, Hook and Tiger Lily. Because Peter wears the Pan necklace; he is held in great favor by the natives, only after he escapes the pirates land and actually finds them. (Peter has to escape Blackbeard).  He has to learn to face his fears and find trust in himself and others. It is a wonderful story, and each character comes to life in their own way, as they guide you through how the famous  Peter Pan story came to be. I took this quote from the movie; it was very true and a script that we can all take something from. “If you don’t believe, Peter, neither will they.”-Tiger Lily. This is a true thing. If you do not believe in yourself and what you can do, others don't believe in you either. Having people believe in you is important. If you aren’t happy with yourself, no one else will be.
There are still some questions left unanswered, so will this mean another movie? I give this film an excellent rating, (*****) and if you are looking for a movie to see with friends or family, I recommend that you grab some popcorn and watch this action-packed movie

Cokie Roberts Shines a Spotlight on our Founding Mothers

“We the people.” That was part of the first line of the Constitution. But it’s not really what the writers meant. Because at that time, “We the people,” probably meant, “We the men”. All the writers were men and many of the important people in history were men. Because women weren’t the generals or the politicians they were often ignored by the people of the time and the people of today. When Cokie Roberts wrote Founding Mothers the Women Who Raised Our Nation and then turned it into a picture book for younger people, she attempted to change that.     When I got the chance to interview her, she said that one of the hardest parts of writing Founding Mothers was finding what the important ladies of the time actually said. Lots of them wrote journals and letters, but often times these were burned, sometimes by the women themselves. As President Truman said to his wife when he saw her burning their letters to each other, “Bess, what are you doing; think of h...

Pigs, Pigs, Pigs! By Rhianon

The pig races have come and gone again, to be back next year. Thank you to every single person who traded in ten or more tickets. That’s $100 that goes to funding to all the cool stuff we have in MVMS, including the iPads and all of the electives. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year here at MVMS. Every single ticket you sold helped your school be what it is. Also, congratulations to every person who got into the Grand Pig Pre . Getting to that annual race is a big accomplishment. It's fun because you help your school while having fun!
