Pig Trouble By Lyla

El Niño By Raphaela

An El Niño is when the ocean becomes much warmer leading to strong rains and sometimes snow. By now it does not matter if it get stronger or weaker it is going to happen. NASA shows that the water in the western pacific is getting colder and that it is warming in the Eastern. Meaning the El Niño  will probably hit this winter. Reservoirs are near to empty, but the warming of the pacific ocean could help by causing an El Niño. Rain might help the drought but brings the risk of huge storms  and floods that could cause chaos and destruction. There are upsides and downsides but the state needs rain. It is going to be raining cats and dogs so don’t step in a poodle.

'Pataphysics - The Science of Imaginary Solutions By Athena and Odessa

On a blazing October Mill Valley Saturday, two inquisitive girls ambled into a wondrous library, surrounded by the statuesque, long standing redwoods. Sun filtered through leaves, creating a lacy pattern on the ground. The two girls were us: Athena and Odessa. We were influenced with a bout of nervousness and excitement, because we were suddenly unsure of whether we got the date correctly and wandered around for a few minutes, gazing at the beautiful, hand drawn bookmarks made by young children. The stairs crepitated as we slinked down and down, into the belly of the whale… as if we were entering another dimension. The arrival at the bottom of the stairs is anticlimactic. We stared at the fiction section, discombobulated, until we worked up the nerve to ask for assistance. A nice lady shows us the way down another stairway, and we nodded our heads as if we had known the whole time. Still unsure of ourselves, we were finally satisfied when we saw the violet poster outside the doo

Pigs, Pigs, Pigs! By Rhianon

The pig races have come and gone again, to be back next year. Thank you to every single person who traded in ten or more tickets. That’s $100 that goes to funding to all the cool stuff we have in MVMS, including the iPads and all of the electives. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year here at MVMS. Every single ticket you sold helped your school be what it is. Also, congratulations to every person who got into the Grand Pig Pre . Getting to that annual race is a big accomplishment. It's fun because you help your school while having fun!

Interview with Ms. Bon By Nola

Ms. Bon is Mr. Flaig's replacement. She is a science teacher in upper sea pod. She only teaches science not any other subjects. She was a student teacher here 25 years ago and is now a teacher here full time. She was substituting but isn't any more she started working with a Guatemala library books to give books to people who don't have them. When she had her daughter she was very careful about giving too much homework. She feels that if she gives to much homework that that will take away from family time or having dinner with grandparents. Her favorite type of science is oceanography and biology. I think having Ms. Bon here will be great. I miss Mr. Flaig a lot but all the 6th graders are going to love Ms. Bon.

The Monthly Review - Pan By Hannah

This month’s review is on the movie Pan , which came out Friday, October 9, 2015. This movie is the story before the original Disney Peter Pan .  The movie is filled with action, intensity, excitement and for those watching, suspense.   The leading characters are Peter, Blackbeard, Hook and Tiger Lily. Because Peter wears the Pan necklace; he is held in great favor by the natives, only after he escapes the pirates land and actually finds them. (Peter has to escape Blackbeard).  He has to learn to face his fears and find trust in himself and others. It is a wonderful story, and each character comes to life in their own way, as they guide you through how the famous   Peter Pan story came to be. I took this quote from the movie; it was very true and a script that we can all take something from. “If you don’t believe, Peter, neither will they.”-Tiger Lily. This is a true thing. If you do not believe in yourself and what you can do, others don't believe in you either. Having people b
