SIXTH GRADE DANCE = HUGE SUCCESS!

SIXTH GRADE DANCE = HUGE SUCCESS!

The 6th Grade Dance was wild and a great time for all of the kids who went to it. The music was cranked at full blast, playing songs by Ke$ha, Will.i.am, and L.M.F.A.O with snacks such as red vines, cookies, popcorn, and beverages such as water and lemonade.

An anonymous student said, “It was wild and supervised. It was great!”

“The photobooth was my favorite part,” said a sixth grader named Alyssa.

The same anonymous student also said, “My favorite song was probably ‘Party rock anthem.’” The majority of 6th graders interviewed agreed with him.

Although the dance was a huge hit, there have been a few complaints about how loud the music was and that it should have been turned down.

Most sixth graders agree, the dance was a huge, wild, and fun success.

The Word: April By Odessa

What do you think of when you hear the word April? Do you think of spring and newly blooming flowers or do you think about April Fool's Day and the pranks? April originally used to be the second month of the year, still following March, of the Roman calendar year. But it became the fourth month around 450 BCE with only 29 days. But when Pope Gregory created the Gregorian calendar in 1582, he changed it to 30 days of April. There are several theories about the etymology of April, the first is that April, came from aperire which means ‘to open’ in Latin. A second theory is that April was named after the Greek goddess of love and beauty, “Aphrodite”. Or another theory that Jacob Grimm, a famous linguist, though was that there was a god or hero named Aper or Aprus April is actually National Humor Month as well as Mathematics Awareness Month and National Poetry Month. April is a wonderful month, we get the chance to fully appreciate spring.

Pigs, Pigs, Pigs! By Rhianon

The pig races have come and gone again, to be back next year. Thank you to every single person who traded in ten or more tickets. That’s $100 that goes to funding to all the cool stuff we have in MVMS, including the iPads and all of the electives. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year here at MVMS. Every single ticket you sold helped your school be what it is. Also, congratulations to every person who got into the Grand Pig Pre . Getting to that annual race is a big accomplishment. It's fun because you help your school while having fun!
