The Monthly Review - Pan By Hannah

This month’s review is on the movie Pan , which came out Friday, October 9, 2015. This movie is the story before the original Disney Peter Pan.  The movie is filled with action, intensity, excitement and for those watching, suspense.  The leading characters are Peter, Blackbeard, Hook and Tiger Lily. Because Peter wears the Pan necklace; he is held in great favor by the natives, only after he escapes the pirates land and actually finds them. (Peter has to escape Blackbeard).  He has to learn to face his fears and find trust in himself and others. It is a wonderful story, and each character comes to life in their own way, as they guide you through how the famous  Peter Pan story came to be. I took this quote from the movie; it was very true and a script that we can all take something from. “If you don’t believe, Peter, neither will they.”-Tiger Lily. This is a true thing. If you do not believe in yourself and what you can do, others don't believe in you either. Having people believe in you is important. If you aren’t happy with yourself, no one else will be.
There are still some questions left unanswered, so will this mean another movie? I give this film an excellent rating, (*****) and if you are looking for a movie to see with friends or family, I recommend that you grab some popcorn and watch this action-packed movie

December Haiku

December Poetry By Juliette  Cold sting of winter air Bites with frozen jaws at the Warmth of our small toes Made it out of clay And when it’s dry and ready Dreidel I shall play We wake up to that Lovely smell of Christmas pine And the early fog Snow fades beneath feet Snowflakes glide to eyelashes Cocoa burns young tongues Crisp rips of paper Bows torn off, smiles then brighten Makes a happy mess My dry, old hands soothe My very chapped lips that sting Looking for chapstick Holidays are done Appreciative of my gifts Leaving family  Gg

50-50 Day By Odessa

50-50 Day is an international day discussing what it’s going to take to get to 50/50 between men and women in all aspects of society. 50-50 Day was started by my mom, Tiffany Shlain. 50-50 Day was at first just a twenty minute film, 50/50, on the past, present and future of women in power. It was released just weeks before the election, meant to welcome in the 1st female president of the US. However, after unexpected results in the 2016 presidential telection Shlain realized that this conversation was more important than ever… it made the film even more potent. Shlain decided to create 50-50 Day. Shlain had worked with this model previously with Character Day, which was shown at schools across the world including Mill Valley Middle School. 50-50 Day, which was on May 10th, had worldwide screenings of the film all over the world along with global discussion on gender equality as well as interviews with Rosie Rios, former Treasurer of the United States, Dolores Huerta, activist, Eva Lon...
